Philip Glass Carnegie Hall - Isaac Stern Auditorium Concert reviews
More than a jolly holiday...
Disney's screen adaptation, which follows L.P. Travers' stories, has enchanted children and adults for years. No question, this is something Sir Cameron Mackintosh and Richard Eyre have managed to achieve convincingly. It seems impossible to imagine the magical things happening to Michael and Jane Banks portrayed live on a stage. Even those who are not fans of the books or the original film will be wowed by the stage effects, set, and choreography of this fantastic production, one which seems to shadow its very sources. Laura Michelle Kelly offers sublime performances, while Gavin Lee as Bert is likeable and Megan Osterhaus, playing Mrs. Banks, is the show's real hidden gem. The Broadway production boasts a talented cast offering heartfelt performances, with the two children impressively confident in their roles (played by a number of young actors on rotation). Slick, fun, and moving, this show is for even the most cynical theatre goer to be astounded by.
